Hey Picture Man!
Project Description
Armed with a historic image archive of more than 9 million photos spanning 50+ years, Hey Picture Man's creators aim to recapture lost memories and nostalgia for an entire generation. Currently in development, this project is the culmination of a full user experience design journey, from ideation to final product. After an initial co-creation process, I lead a 3-part design sprint to explore the desirability, feasibility, and viability of making such a massive shared library of images accessible to everyone. The proposed solution leverages a specialized process of ingesting photos using AWS Rekognition to tag each file with an event, year, organization, and 'face print' of each individual, as well as moderation for offensive material. This not only provides a scalable hierarchical data structure, it also allows users to safely search by any event detail, or even their own face, while also seeing related images and events to prevent 'dead end' searches. The result is a clean exploratory experience that brings memories back into focus.
